The Re-Exploitation of Africa?

With the western financial super-powers in comatose during a recession, China has taken it upon themselves to strengthen and enhance theirs, with a jet-like progression to global domination.

Their latest expedition has led them to take over the West's "sloppy-seconds", also known as Africa.

Figures from United Nations Conference on Trade and Development show that since 2008, China's financial involvement in Africa has gone into the billions.

Natural resources such, oil, diamonds, minerals along side local trade and the steady increase in tourism opportunities has turned Africa into what can only be seen as a cliched Tony Montana quote.

After a civil war shedding light on the depths human brutality can sink to, China struck a deal with the Democratic Republic of the Congo exchanging infrastructure for minerals. This deal alone is worth $9bn.

The Chinese have also been in discussion with the government of Guinea, which recently massacred 150 democracy protesters and had its government soldiers publicly rape dozens of women.

Chad, Sudan, South Africa and Sierra Leone just to name a few, are some of the countries who have benefited from the influx of direct Chinese investment.

The question remains is; How will this benefit Africa?

Foreign financial involvement in the continent has always seemed to fall in the brackets of charitable or exploitation. But makes China different?

China is NOT in the business of charity.

Yes, their business methods are questionable, but the difference between them and the West, is they are not trying to make up for hundred's of years of guilt.
